Fun for the whole family! Sail aboard Tall Ship Lynx to hear stories of dramatic shipwrecks and daring rescues.  Sing along to lively sea shanties geared toward young audiences, and explore an array of traditional, seafaring instruments.

Weekly Maritime Speaker Series

On Thursday mornings from July 5-August 23, a variety of local experts will give a talk on various maritime subjects such as the history of the island’s three lighthouses, the history of the Fresnel lens and its mechanics, the stories of the lighthouse keepers and their families, boating safety today, and fun unknown maritime facts.

Freedom & Fireworks Aboard Tall Ship Lynx, America’s Privateer!

Watch the fireworks display aboard Tall Ship Lynx after a sail around Nantucket harbor with a scrumptious catered boxed dinner and festive libations.

Lynx Family Adventure

High Seas Heroes
Off the shores of Nantucket, daring and dramatic rescues saved countless lives over hundreds of years thanks to the courageous acts of the island’s lifesavers. Young participants will step into the role of a heroic lifesaver and fire the Lyle gun, raise the breeches buoy, and save souls in peril. Shipwreck stories, sea shanties, and historical play will transport young participants to the island’s seafaring past. Snacks provided, maritime costumes encouraged.

Family Day at the Nantucket Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum

Join Egan Maritime for a family friendly program full of crafts and activities for all ages. Parting snack provided. This program is free and open to all thanks to the generous support of Ritchie, Katie and Westray Battle.

Wednesday,  July 11 through August 15
Weekly Children’s Program at the Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum

Every Wednesday starting July 11 and going through August 15, Children are Invited to join the museum for a two hour educational program for children. A specialized age-appropriate tour will be offered along with other select activities.   Come play fun outside maritime games, make an instrument and sing along to sea shanties, enjoy painting maritime scenes with watercolors and printmaking with local artist, David Lazarus, learn the art of knot tying with Harbormaster, Sheila Lucey and more.

Sea of Opportunities Short Film Premiere & Benefit Luncheon

Join Egan Maritime for an inspiring lunch in support of experiential maritime education for Nantucket youth. Hear stories of overcoming fear, learning the ropes, and discovery of self from the Student Mariners who sailed the Tall Ships, and the dedicated patrons who made it all possible.

Legend and Lore on the High Seas
Dress up like your favorite pirate, mermaid, or maritime character and join Egan Maritime onboard the Tall Ship Lynx to sail into history. Hear local legends of sailors and sirens and their chance encounters at sea. Hands-on crafts, fanciful stories, salty shanties and snacks provided.

Second Wind, an Evening with Nat Philbrick

Join Egan Maritime for a delightful evening with treasured island author, historian, and Egan Maritime trustee emeritus, Nat Philbrick in celebration of the second printing of his beloved book, Second Wind. Reception tickets are available for a small garden gathering before the event, and include libations, hors d’oeuvres, and a copy of Second Wind. This program is generously sponsored by Nantucket Island Resorts.

6:30pm lecture at the Unitarian Church, 11 Orange Street.

Join Egan Maritime and Nanpuppets onboard Tall Ship Lynx for an enchanting morning sail with Nantucket’s favorite puppets, Millie the Mermaid, Clarence the Clam, Wanda the Whale and many more. Dress as your favorite pirate, mermaid, or maritime character to enjoy this fanciful adventure at sea. Shipwreck stories, sea shanties, and salty snacks will entertain all young sailors.

Lynx Family Adventure

Currents of Culture: Seafaring Tattoos
Step back in time with Egan Maritime aboard Tall Ship Lynx.  Hear the stories and chart the courses of Nantucket mariners who traveled around the world to collect artifacts and traditions from far off lands—more than whale oil traveled to and from Nantucket. In this informative family program youth will explore the often overlooked meaning of seafaring tattoos and iconography. Stories, shanties, mock henna maritime tattoos, and snacks will be provided for all. Young sailors are encouraged to come in maritime costume.

These women and men go far beyond the call of duty in their rescues, and Egan Maritime is proud and humbled to recognize their selfless deeds at this annual event.
