Egan Maritime’s Student Mariners
Island Youth Who Sail Tall Ships

In partnership with the Tall Ship Lynx, operated by The Lynx Education Fund, and the Tall Ship Fritha, owned and operated by Northeast Maritime Institute, each summer a minimum of eight middle school and high school students from all island schools are able to benefit from three or seven-day sails.

Student Mariners are selected through an application process. They return to shore with a new found sense of confidence and connection to the ocean. They have coined the sails as “transformational” and “life changing.”

Of the 12 Student Mariners who have graduated from Nantucket high school, 6 are currently enrolled at maritime academies and institutions, on track for careers in the maritime trades.
