For the month of February on ACKweather social media, we will be featuring the spectacular work of Nantucket native and island photographer Katie Kaizer. Growing up, Katie always had a camera in her hand. She wanted to capture everything—from sunsets at the beach to epic adventures with friends—Katie wanted to document these treasured moments and precious memories so they would last forever. After attending college and living abroad for several years, Katie enrolled in the New England School of Photography in 2009 for a two-year professional program where she studied photojournalism and wedding portrait photography. After graduating, Katie started her photography business on the island.
Katie has always been inspired by the beauty of Nantucket and the incredible scenery of the island, both of which have influenced her perspective on photography. Katie’s photography style is natural and journalistic, and she specializes in weddings and portraits. She is committed to capturing the human experience and wants to document moments that her clients will cherish forever. Every photo session she has, no matter what the occasion, is a new artistic endeavor with a story to be told.
This past October, Katie married Evan Schwanfelder, Egan Maritime’s Manager of Maritime Education. They reside on island with their beloved rescue dog, Ziggy. Katie was recently awarded a Fearless Award in Collection 44 in the Real Moments' category, which is an amazing accomplishment as the Fearless Awards are a highly competitive international competition where only two and half percent of submissions win awards. Additionally, she placed second in the ISPWP Summer 2018 Awards in the ‘Getting Ready’ category. She is the Co-President of the Photographers Alliance of Nantucket and is a board member of Petticoat Row, Women in Business and The Nantucket Arts Council. She is also a member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association. To learn more about Katie, click here. To see some of her recent work, follow her on Facebook and Instagram.
During the month of February, Katie is generously donating 50% of all landscape print sales to Egan Maritime. We are so grateful to her and we are excited to share her gorgeous photos with you!
