In an effort to get more visitors out to the Nantucket Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum, Egan Maritime’s Shipwreck Shuttle now provides free round trips.
UPDATE: As of July 30, 2019, afternoon rides to town from the Museum are tentative.
Starting Tuesday, May 28, 2019, Egan Maritime will be expanding its free transportation offerings to and from its Nantucket Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum, located at 158 Polpis Road, next to the Nantucket Conservation Foundation’s beautiful Field Station.
A FREE Shipwreck Shuttle route from Visitor’s Services, located at 25 Federal Street, will take patrons from the heart of Nantucket’s Historic District directly to the Museum, operating now until Columbus Day. The free Shipwreck Shuttle service is provided Monday through Saturday, 10:30am to 4pm. The gathering point for passengers is located directly in front of Visitor’s Services, 25 Federal Street. The ride to the Museum is approximately fifteen minutes, and will give day trippers and island visitors the opportunity for a broader experience of Nantucket as they will enjoy sweeping views of Nantucket Land Bank and Nantucket Conservation Foundation properties throughout their Shuttle ride.
In addition to the Shipwreck Shuttle, Egan Maritime is pleased to provide the public with free WAVE bus passes to get them out to the Museum and back to town on the 'Sconset via Polpis Route. For those who are unable to plan their trip around the Shipwreck Shuttle schedule, the free bus passes are available at Visitor’s Services.
