Copy of Will Sofrin

Join us at the Shipwreck and Lifesaving Museum for an evening talk about exploring the historic and genealogical records of one of Nantucket's families!

Local Nantucketer Melissa MacVicar shares her exciting finds from years of genealogical research into the Clisby family. McVicar will share her deep dive into the life of her great-great uncle Captain Timothy F. Clisby, who was one of the last Nantucketers to successfully hunt a whale off of Nantucket after the collapse of the whaling industry on the Island.

Melissa Brooks MacVicar lives year-round in Nantucket. She retired from teaching in the Nantucket Public Schools in 2023. Melissa traces her island roots back to the founders and now loves having the time to indulge her passion for Nantucket history of all kinds. You can follow her on Instagram @melissa.macvicar
