Dear Friends,

Over the past three decades, we have worked to preserve and celebrate the Island’s seafaring heritage. This year more than ever, we have reinvigorated our mission and expanded our offerings to make a profound impact on our Nantucket community, with a particular focus on youth education.

Over the past year, Sea of Opportunities has tripled its reach. For the first time, our Oceanography and Maritime Studies curriculum is being taught in grades six and eight and we expanded to Nantucket High School with two maritime-focused
courses.

We are also working to enhance the beloved Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum to facilitate expanded community programming. This past summer, we launched new programs such as the popular Folgers Marsh kayak tours and daily outdoor educational programming for young visitors.

On the water, over 500 students, members, and friends sailed aboard the Tall Ship Lynx this summer. In 2023, we are excited to increase our programming aboard the Lynx and ensure that this cultural landmark stays in Nantucket’s harbor.

All of our youth programs are free thanks to the generosity of our members, donors, and friends. Your gift will allow us to continue to offer no-cost educational programs for the Island’s youth and to invigorate our mission through programming in the classroom, in the community, and on the water.

Please donate today and create an ocean of opportunities for all of Nantucket.
