Join Egan Maritime Institute, Remain, and the Nantucket Conservation Foundation for an evening book club session at the Nantucket Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum. We will be discussing David Grann's 2023 bestseller The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murder. Called "a tour de force of narrative nonfiction" by The Wall Street Journal, this page turner tells the true story of the British warship the Wager, which wrecked on a remote island off South America in the mid-1700s. The disaster led to a harrowing fight for survival, followed by a mutiny — and later a high-stakes court martial to uncover what really happened.
Free copies of The Wager will be available at Mitchell’s Bookstore for the first 20 participants. Additional copies are available for purchase prior to, and at, the book club meeting with a 20% discount courtesy of Egan Maritime Institute. To purchase a copy, please call 508-228-2505.
