Jr. Operators Course

Join Egan Maritime Institute and the Nantucket Harbormasters office for a free Mass Safe Boating Course for Nantucket Students.

Students 12 and up are encouraged to join us for this free course, which is required to get their state-issued boating license.

The classroom portion of the course is run over a day and a half at the Egan offices and taught by Nantucket Harbormaster Sheila Lucey. Additionally, an added on-the-water component is built into this training, which is generally not included in the introductory course offered by the state. Students will have a chance to climb aboard the harbormaster’s boat with professional mariners to put their operational, navigational, and safety skills to the test in a real-world environment.

This spring, we will offer two dates (please note dates have been changed for both Jr Operators Classes as of 2/6):

Saturday 3/9/2024: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm

Saturday 4/6/2024: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm

* Lunch is provided.

The Jr. Operators course is offered for free. However, space is limited. Please make sure to register to save your spot.
