The Sea of Opportunities Benefit Luncheon Honoring Harbor Master Sheila Lucey, With Special Remarks by Nathaniel D. Philbrick
By Olivia E. Jackson
Join Egan Maritime on Wednesday, August 7 at Great Harbor Yacht Club to honor the island’s Harbor Master, Sheila Lucey, and to celebrate Egan’s 30th Anniversary with a toast to our founding trustees and special remarks by local historian and author, Nathaniel D. Philbrick. Libations and greetings will begin at 11:30am; lunch and presentation to follow at 12pm.
The 2019 Sea of Opportunities Benefit Luncheon will honor the Town of Nantucket’s Harbor Master, Sheila Lucey. Egan Maritime is proud to recognize Sheila and her immeasurable contributions to the island and its youth. Her unparalleled admiration for Nantucket and its people is inspiring and commendable, and her impact extends far beyond the waters surrounding the island. Join us in commemorating and honoring an invaluable member of the Nantucket community.
Additionally, Egan Maritime is celebrating 30 years of service on Nantucket. Founded in 1989 by native Albert F. “Bud” Egan, Jr. and his wife Dorothy H. Egan, Egan’s mission is to inspire the appreciation and preservation of the island’s maritime legacy and seafaring heritage. Renowned Nantucket author and historian, Nathaniel D. Philbrick, who was Egan Maritime’s first Executive Director, will speak about the evolution and growth of the organization over the past three decades, before raising a toast in honor of its founding trustees.
When asked about the selection of Sheila Lucey as the honoree, Egan Maritime’s Executive Director, Pauline Proch, commented, “Sheila was an obvious choice. She does so much for island youth who are looking to get out on the water and work. She is an endless supporter of Sea of Opportunities, she keeps our waters safe, she embraces every niche of Nantucket’s diverse community, and she goes above and beyond in her service.”
Thank you to Resolve Marine Group, Nantucket Island Resorts, Marine Home Center, Madaket Marine, and Congdon & Coleman Insurance for sponsoring this event and supporting Egan Maritime's maritime education efforts. Their support, in every way, makes a wave of difference.
